Photographer's Note

The Chilean port town of Valparaiso is one of the country's busiest cities and popular tourist attractions - a popular port of call for cruise ships gives it that position. The city itself is built on steep hills surrounding a perfect natural harbor shaped like a bowl. Mountain views of the Andes are possible here on a clear day, creating an amazing layered look at Chile, from the water to the peaks.

Valparaiso is also Chile's busiest shipping port, and the waterfront is dominated by the harbor itself, with tankers regularly parked offshore and container ships unloading wares below the Artilleria hill at the southern end of the harbor. This is a shot from that hill, looking northeast across the water to the hills and mountains beyond.
