Photographer’s Note
Pan de Azucar national park, a short distance to the noth of the mining port of Chañaral. I scrambled up some slippery rocks to get a better view of the bay. This was taken shortly before sunset, a few minutes later the marine fog covered the entire sky (for the entire following day as wall). The scenery may look like a hot desert, but it's not hot at all. The temperature was cold enough to require a jacket.

Hey, nice to see you back and positing, Tan! How does the 20D work for you, are you still happy with it? As for the image, great and making use of excellent light, just as usual.

Fascinating shot! The landscape itself is very interesting with the big maountains right down by the ocean, and contrasting well with the beach, but what really sets this apart is the lighting. the transition between the foreground which is in shadow and the more distant areas which are in the sun is wonderful. Beautiful!

Tan,
you know my country better than me! (and travel there often than me!)
Very nice POV, I guess few people have ben standing there, for a nice photo. Good exposure for a difficult light condition.
Good work

Another fine shot Tan. The kind that makes me want to visit this place, although I doubt I would be as fortunate to get such good lighting. Also to invetigate the story behind the geological formation. Certainly worth the scramble to get the POV.

Hello Tan,
Gracious curvy coastline captured against beautiful backdrop of the desert against beautiful sky. Well kept details of the fg.
Good job!

Hello, Tan--
i love seeing this kind of shot from you... tension between land and ocean from a high perspective in good light. The foreground diagonal gives a good feeling of place... and there's just always something about the tension between ocean, desert, and humidity that appeals to me in well-taken pictures from the South American coast.
Thanks!

Tan,
after a long time of abscence here you're back. It seems that you really got to places that are not being visited by the regular tourist. Wonderful framing of the sun exposed area against the shadows in the foreground and the darker portion in the left upper corner. It gives the feeling that we can see the light coming in form the right and making landfall.
It seems that your experience in dealing with fog by living in the Bay Area payed off here. Found the right window in the day to get the landscape with the right amount to give that feeling of fog, but still enough detail of the landscape.
Happy New Year!
Peter

Hey Tan,
A nice return to TE, with this shot of the ocean and interesting looking mountains. I particularly like the large one hugging the water. Great lighting, and good window of opportunity to catc this shot between the fog.

Hi Tan,
Nice to see you back.
Very beautiful but unhospital environment. Dry desert, ocean waves and light all look great. Direction of sun is just right directly from the sea.
It seems that you didn't quite have time to find the optimal position before the sunset and fog, as there's quite a lot of foreground shadow.

Hola Tan
Long time no see! A superb beachscape with a wonderful & subtle colour contrast, bewteen the red magenta tinted sand & blue sea & sky. A good high, pov, with marvellous sharpness. Keep 'em coming, pls!

Hola Capitan,
It looks genuinely virgin and empty, I even wonder how you got to that nowhere, your subject is well in the light, I'm wondering whether it would add value to crop a bit of foreground or not...\Have a nice day JY

Hi Tan,
it's nice to see your post again! This one brings us an incredible atmosphere. The loneliness of the place pleases me a lot. The view is spectacular and the capture effective. Very good one!

hi Tan
desert and ocean, a wonderful mix
IMO crop out few pixels out from the bottom would be more balanced, in my tastes of course
the POV is wonderful and contrasted
:)

Hi, Tan. Nice to see you back. The play of light and shadow is very interesting in your picture and so is the landscape. Were it not for the ocean, we could believe you landed on the Moon. It all looks very dry and inhospitable, but is certainly worth the view.

Hello Tan
Absolutely barren and serene. You chose a high POV to create a great compo. What I like most is the play of shadows in the FG & the lit up part beyond. Fascinating contrast of the blue ocean with the brown landscape.
Visiting you gallery after a real long time. Was actually looking forward for your pics. from your trip, because you had said you couldn't make it to Asia. It's always a pleasure to see your pictures & I also wanted to wish you the very best for the new year...that's all.
With Regards

Such an impressive landscape. I live the combination of light and shadows, the inherent depth of your picture, the great mix of colors with the so nicely textured sea in blue and the sands. A very beautiful image.

Hi Tan,
An almost surrealist landscape. I like much the effects of shades and lights which create a particular relief. Very beautiful natural colors.

Hi Tan!
All of your photographs are wonderful... it's hard to find one I don't want to see in detail or I don't want to write about it! At this point, it's hard to write in all of them or give them all some points... I chose this one to tell you this! Nice matching between water and earth, humidity and drought... just perfect combination and your picture is a spectacle!!!!!
TFS - Congratulations!
Greetings from Brazil,
Neyvan Peçanhuk
