Photographer’s Note

July 11, 2006 was a date that will never be forgotten by many people in Los Ángeles (Chile). Within a view hours nature has threatened them totally unexpected with taking their livelihood. The flood has taken lands, roads, bridges, houses and also lives, where they have lived for centuries.

I went to the center of the city as I heard that the water has also made its way there. It was incredible to see that there was a big river where hours before I have been walking. I knew it was not over yet... the rain wasn't that intense anymore but still, it kept drizzling and the temperature was going to fall during the night...

NOTE:

Los Ángeles is the capital of the province of Biobío, in the commune of the same name, in Region VIII, in the center-south of Chile. It is located between the Laja and Biobío rivers. The population is approx. 100.000 inhabitants.

To the north of the city is Salto del Laja (Laja Falls), and roughly 100 kilometers to the east is the 2.985 meter high (9,793 ft) Antuco volcano, in the Andes mountain range.
