Fast car

A Sunday afternoon, on our way to Guralhos airport, back to Holland. The taxi could progress very swiftly through the uncharacteristically light traffic, the drive straight through a major part of town from our hotel in Cha. Sto Antonio took us only 40 minutes. Riding thru town was like a fast rewind of scenes and memories. We recognised much of the things we saw from our extensive inner city bus travels with our dear friend Isabel and this triggered all kinda stories. Shooting downtown Sampa for the last time through the open taxi window we decided to return. And we will.

And yes, the car is of course a lovely VW Bug. There're still lots of them around. The production of the VW Fusca ended in Brazil in 1986, but it returned again from 1992 to 1996, as the special Gold Series, which is a collectors item in Brazil (Muito obrigado Lucas for this VW information).

This is for now the last Brazil posting. In the following postings, counting 'down' to post #300 I’ll revisit Katwijk and Noordwijk, the North Sea coastal villages where I grew up.

Fast car is a song from Tracy Chpaman’s self titled debut album. Released in 1988 on Elelktra

PCS3 tech: altered the saturation, contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, using different layers, enhanced the edges, USM-ed, added a frame and resized and did a gentle USM again.

Beautiful yellowy composition Bert.
I love the highlights on the car, very glossy... The POV is very clever too!
Tfs.

Hoi Bert,

John.

hoi Bert.

Mooi werk!
Tot vrijdag!
Groeten,
Lars

Hi Bert !
A very interesting yellow diagonal!!!
Well done. TFS!
Um abraço,

Hi Bert,

Though I'm not at all a fan of tilted horizons, I LOVE Tracy Chapman and it is a great song, and I love the yellows in this shot.
Yeah, I don't think it's John's age that he has to get used to tilted horizons hahaha. Well, since the rest of the shot is just wonderfully sharp and vibrant, I can look behind the tilt. Nothing wrong with the tight crop. Works well!

Greetings, Dennis

Hello Bert,
What a nice composition and effective idea to present it in this way.The tilt horizon give a strong touch to enjoy...always fine graphism to your images! The fast car is one of my favorite song at the 80s...still remember a great gig in Athens at 1988 with the T.Chapman sung so wonderful songs from here debut album.I enjoy very much, file mou,the whole presentation!

Many wishes,
Thomas

Parabéns e Abraço!
P.S. The production of the VW ended in Brazil in 1986, but it returned again in 1992 finishing in 1996, with the special Gold Series, car of collector here!

Hi Bert,

I really like this tilted photo. Beautiful yellow colours and very artistic. There are so many details to look at. I thougt it was parked but all of a sudden I discoved a driver. TFS and have a nice evening!

Cheers,

Ulf

Hi Bert,

Beautiful yellow shot. The tilt is very suitable, it makes more fast the shot!! These cars were / are beautiful, and the coincidence of colors you has captured is impressive. Good timing and very good composition! As always, an interesting urban shot! Thanks.

Greetings,
Angel.

Hallo Bert,
groet Rob

Hi Bert!
a yellow composition!
original!and the tilt works very well..
good lines!
ciao!
Valeria

How may beers did you drink going to the airport Bert?... Obviously Kidding, in fact I love the sense of speed, somehow like leaving the place, so are so related with the environment that is time to experiments. You´ve loved Brazil, and I have to go someday in the future. Take care Bert.

Although I'm not really a fan of tilted photos I have to admit that this works. I think it's something to do with the car and the building being the same colour although again that doesn't make sense. I won't analyse it but just say I like it.

Hi Bert,
The tilt here is just right and artistically pleasing. I love the blend of yellow hues here and the very fine light and clarity of detail. The "Mix" sticker on the Bug is at first a little disconcerting, but I can live with it. A very high quality shot.

Your graphic touch... I would recognize it among other without any problem...
This tilted yellow car passing in front of this yellow-like church, in this soft light is simplt excellent.
Very well done.
Stéphane

Hi Bert
Lovely colorful shot! i like the tilted 45 degree angle.
Very nice
Harry

Hi Bert, nice photo of the Bug (Fusca here) car. The colors are nice and the crop was well done. I like the inclination here gave some motion to the photo.
Regards
Andre

Hi, Bert.
Amazing capture about my country. I enjoyed a lot of it and the Fusca for manys decades was a brazilian symbol for many people. Nowadays, in my city, is difficult to find this car. Nice colors and sharpness. Good work. Um abraço, Consuelo
