Photographer’s Note

This is an old part of the Santarem City. Most of the old streets are very narrow but they have fountains and/or plazas at street intersections like this one where you have to go around it to continue to the next street.

The City of Santarem is actually built along the south shore of Rio Tapajos not the Amazon River. Rio Tapajos flows into the Amazon two miles from the city. Rio Tapajos is what they call "clear" or "black" water. The Amazon proper has brown or mocha coffee color.

Above information were taken from the tour guide of the ship.

Also look at my postings in TrekLens Faces & Images of the Amazon River.

PP Work: Adjust levels control; Adjust saturation; Sharpen;Adjust color balance; Provided blu gradient filter on sky; Crop; Frame; Reduce image size for upload.
