I was with a group of conservationists driving on a highway through a national park in Sao Paulo state, when all of the sudden the van stopped and everyone started yelling. A male three-toed sloth had tried to cross the highway and got caught at the median strip, not able to cross over the concrete barrier dividing the highway or cross back to where he came from - certain death for a slow-moving animal like a sloth. My friends picked up the creature by the nape of neck and the rump, crossed the highway, and placed him in the safety of a tree. It's usually hard to see sloths as they are typically well hidden in the forest canopy. This was an amateur photographer's dream come true - wildlife just a few feet from the camera moving so slowly you can't help but take a decent shot. I think he is thanking us in this photo.

My congratulations to your friend!
He, certainly, is a very "human" man.
The slooth is a protected animal.
I like the picture too!
The animal looks quite shocked and , apparently, not realizes what he escaped from!
Nice work for you two!

You were very fortunate to see this Sloth, or any sloth for that matter. Your photo is very good right down to the depth you selected. I commend the people who placed this slow moving creature into the tree,
Very good image,

This is a very nice photo, I like the detail in the animals face and the forest. Nice colors. Thank you for sharing.
