Photographer's Note
Flying in a small Cessna 200 m above Rio Negro about 60km north west from Manaus. The water of Rio Negro seems from the 200 m to be really black reflecting the blue sky above.

Hello Michael,
really cool shot and nice view ! Great water and islands pattern.
Maybe a little to green color saturation and soften grains.
Regards,
Alberto.

Beautiful picture Michael!
I like perspective and colors, and it makes me remember about my very positive feelings when I've been there.
I didn't fly, but I believe it has to be fantastic! :-)

Yo Michael!
Great POV! Really good, must have been a buzz to be flying over this. Nice lead in point with the mangroves at the bottom of the frame leading right up. Some nice colours that appears really dynamic also.
Cheers!

This is a National Geographic quality image, Michael. Great composition from your privileged POV and good exposure in what looks like could have been quite difficult lighting conditions. Excellent saturation too. Cheers . . . David

I've seen many photos of rio Negro (and been there myself) and this is one of the lovelist photos I've seen of it!! You captured the movement well. The colors are striking. I particularly like the clouds, almost a storm, which makes sense since it rains so often. The clouds seem a bit too blue (maybe from color adjustment) to me. Seems like they would be more grey, but I still love the photo.

Oh wow, I wish I could afford to go all over the world in a Cessna (in good weather of course), these flatlands look infinitely more interesting from high above.
