Photographer’s Note
Santa Claus lives here! Fancy that! I always thought he lived in North Pole or maybe in Finland, but people of Gramado states that this is his house and his toy's factory is nearby (we also visited it!)... Well, it's great for children (my daughter enjoyed it so much), and for local commerce of course, but come on, it's just for fun!
The fact is that both Canela and Gramado have extensive Christmas activities, and made a tourist attraction of it. The two cities, that are quite close from each other (just 7km), were known for winter tourism (mainly in July, here in the south), as they are almost on the extreme south of Brazil and on high mountains. This Santa Claus initiative brought tourists also during summer. And there we were!
Maybe Santa Claus stays here during his vacations, after delivering all those gifts! It's not bad, isn't it? He has a very nice view from his doorway! And the temperature is quite nice, around 18-20C in january, while north pole must be unbearable.
