Pedra Azul's view (Blue Rock) Photo

Photographer’s Note

" Domingos Martins is approximately 60 km east of the state of Espirito Santo capital, Vitória, and is 542 meters above sea level.

It is in the mountainous region of the state and is marketed as the "Green City", due to the fact it is surrounded by subtropical rainforest, much of which has disappeared in the rest of the region. Within its borders lie mountains of up to 2000m, amongst which is the well-known Pedra Azul (Blue Rock) State Park comprised mainly of a quartzite rock jutting out of the surrounding landscape at 1,822m above sea level. It has a blue tinge to the stone due to the kind of lichens which grow on it, which gives the name to the formation and the park."

Wow! The colour and saturation are incredible! The composition is great too, with the buildings and the trees at the front and the dramatic background with that huge rock and the dark sky. The tree on the right is well positioned and adds a lot of interest, and helps to balance the frame. Superb!

Hi Carmen,
very nice, very dramatic light!
The incumbent sky increase this sensation of an imminent strong even.
Very nice the presnce of the houses, so 'little' in comparison with the background.

Nice shot Carmem;

Very rih colors in this scene... the dirt is as I remember when living in Misiones, Argentine- very red in color. Once into your white clothes- very hard to get out my mother used to say.
An impressive looking rock, which looks like it would be impossible in climbing...

Very nice composition. The whole image looks like a painting.
The old houses in the bottom of the image create a good balance with the mountain in the background.

Not a state that we see a lot of pictures from. It has beautiful nature. I really like the little house against its environmnet,

Hola Carmen:

En mi departamento (Santa Cruz) tenemos una piedra similar a esta, se llama AMBORO. Y de igual manera es un lugar hermoso y lleno de vegetacion, apto para realizar climbing, trekkeing, etc....

En cuanto a tu foto, creo que le falto un poco de luz, pero esta bien, la compo muy buena, la definicion de colores tambien.

Carmem, verynice shot. I like the colors of the stormy sky but i love too, the colors of the grass around the little house. very well taken, i think this picture was very worked.

Hi Carmem. What a dramatic shot with a strong sky. I like what you were going for with the tall portrait orientation but I might have cropped some of the uppermost part of the sky. Nice shot Carmem.

Querida Carmen,

Me gusta la composicion: Un paisaje rural lindo de morrir! La casita se destaca muy bien dentro de esa tierra roja y los arboles.
En cuanto a los colores los alle muy fuertes, haciendo un efecto general un poco oscuro.

The placement of the subject very nice that give this photo a very good and impressive framing.
From the image of it, I noticed that you have make adjustment onto the picture to improve the quality of the color and exposure level, isn't it. And it's a good job done, too.

Wow Carmen,

I think that this is one of your better pictures. The colors are bold (almost a little too bold...gives me the impression of digital artifacts). But the composition of the Rock along with the great clouds overcomes any other problems. It's very, very nice. The framing is a little interesting (I'm not a big fan of thin vertical crops...something to do with having horizontaly facing eyes), but it works...the clouds are just so freaking amazing (have I mentioned that this is a very nice image?)
