Photographer’s Note
Back to Paraty.
What you see is the Museum of Paraty, Casa da Cultura. The light was beautiful in there, I could'nt resist, this is a stolen shot, as taking pictures was not allowed.
In the back you see monitors with pictures of many inhabitants of Paraty, and putting on a headphone, you can listen to their story. Luckily a lot of stories were translated into English so that I could understand them. Impressive to hear all those stories, how people came to Brasil, how they were brought in as slaves, how they have survived.
On the ceiling you see containers filled with all kinds of things that can be found in and around Paraty, or handicrafts from the Indians or slaves. You can pull a container down, and read something about what's in it.
It was a beautiful little museum, very worth while a visit.

A comment from Isabel made me take a different look at the picture. Isabel mentioned high tech, and I agree, it looks that way, because of all the monitors, and the white color all around. However, I experienced it totally different, the museum was all about people, and constructed and displayed with a lot of love and care. Exactly that was the reason why I wanted to upload this picture.

Hi Rinie, a lovely grahic loudness here and so well orchestrated that the result is a delicious graphism! The warmly lit up place where the two CRT's are standig forms a nice and well positioned resting point in the compo.
And if this wasn't enough it also very nice to examine these Paraty faces and groups from a distance. Very very nice work!

It's kind of hard to distinguish the images on the background, but it is undeniable that your point of view allows a graphical dimension to the scene. A nice idea for a museum also, certainly more alive than some classical places I've been to in the past.

Its very interesting. Im not really sure whats going on. I think the POV is confusing me:) There is an eerie quality to this shot..all those TVs in such an almost deserted empty space. Maybe a more perpendicular POV would be a bit better, to eliminate some of the elements in the foreground like the counter top.

Interesting picture, although the small web size does not do it justice. Very interesting note to go with it (necessary to understand, I think). While reading your note I try to imagine visiting the museum, it sounds like a really interesting experience.
Really this image is puzzling, I like it.

Working in Television this exhibition is quite appealing to me. I like you stole it. Kind of laberinth shot. Very interesting and colorful, like a sky full of catodic stars. Enjoy present dear, looking forwar to meet you.

Hi Rinie. As you know I like museum photography and this photo is a very nice one - even more special due to the fact that you mention you "sneaked" it. Good use of repetition and a very modern look from the interplay of the monitor displays and the vertical elements. Good work handling the exposure, too.
Greetings from Canada (five more days to go; great vacation; incredible scenery)

different from your last shot from Brasil, Rinie! that one had a touch of countryside and now, in the same city, high-tech, great contrast, such is Brasil!
I want to believe that dark silhouette at the low left hand side belongs to a real human :)
definition, colors and pov are just excellent!
EDITED: Rinie, I saw your shot at work and then i could find the human elements you pointed out. gezzzz need a new monitor, definitely!

I definitely take this in as high tech. But I think that is part of the way I am viewing it, as a photograph and not as an actual experience. In this view it has a haunting view of the hi tech and fast paced world in which we live. There is information everywhere and always streaming. In its silence the image has a lot of noise as if all these monitors were alive with news and stories being told by all those pictured. And all that sound sort of jumbling together into a great cacophony of sound. So great that it becomes too much to take in. Everything hanging are like veins into this information world, to tap in and understand it all. So in the silence of this photo I can see the fast pace and information overload of the hi-tech and digital world in which we live.

Oh very good naughty girl. I guess you stayed within the spirit of the rule, taking just an interesting compo, rather than reproducing the works.
