Instead of Rotterdam, I give you Paraty by night ;-)

I wanted to go back to my Brazilian pictures again, and as I couldn't sleep (too angry about something), I treated myself on a bit of TE with a funshot.

I rented a bike one day in Paraty to go out into the country, and coming back, I saw these two older gentlemen leaning against the tree. I thought it was worth while a shot, so I stopped and got my camera out. Then these girls came by, and the men turned their heads and followed them. It was funny to see their reaction.

In the distance you see a banner about 2nd Danca Paraty, I will upload a dance picture later.

Hi Rinie,
In Brazil we say "Old, but not died". This is a common scene in the streets. Good shot, nice composition. In the next shot, we go to "balada".
Best Regards,
Leonor

Rinie, querida, que saudade!
I still need ot comment your and bert´s night shots, but now I am looking to this Paraty´s night and asking myself where this ambar tone comes from...
ah, men...

Never too old, thats for sure. Men will always like wone...until we are dead I suppose. And those guys sure seem to like those girls. Nice street shot, but why are they dressed like that? I though brazillian girls ran around in bikinis, especially in Rio. Ahh Rio, that place will turn even the oldest man into the biggest horndog.

Good eye Rinie.

A good return to your Brazil trip, Rinie, with this fun and telling scene of the guys lending an eye to the girls. Nice mood with the light and good perspective.
I arrived at Calgary 3 hrs ago and really need to go to sleep now ..

Good eye, Rinie!
The scene is so funny and you caught it well. I like particularly the clothes and attitude of the man on the right, he really looks like an aged teenager (if that means something).
Funny to compare this night shot to your previous one. Here, only warm tones, people, life, earth material (stone, tree...). On the previous, cold tones, no one in sight, glass, steel, straight lines and reflection... An illustration of two different ways of life! (and 2 very interesting pictures).

Take care, I hope you calmed down!

Ah yes, a session on TE very theraputic, and we all know how much you enjoyed that trip. Really nice well exposed night shot, with lots of daily (nightly) life interest, I wonder why you haven't posted it before.

Uhmmm what is this that you cannot sleep? I was thinking about your next destination and I thought the island of Grenada at the Caribbean sea sounds like relaxing... I like this photo Rinie, never too old or the desire to keep living no matter the age. I love the instant, the indiference of the unaware girls, the automatic glance of the old men. This is the way life is. Take care and cheers from the beautiful city of San SEbastián.

Hi Rinie, he he this is an exquisite street scene with the old men never skipping a beat. I like the atmosphere, depth and and motion blur a lot here. And it's very filmic. Lovely job & take care!
Bert

Love the stance of these guys, especiallythe red guy. reminds me of an HCB picture, where an older man was looking at a writing on the wall in may 1968 in Paris (time of many demonstrations in France). Writing was saying "Jouissez sans entraves". Not sure how to translate correctly in english.
amicalement, michel

Yes, Rinie, funny and perfectly well seen! These two guys will surely go to the dance paraty after that. Well captured decisive moment, definitely the perfect timing IMO. And the white balance suits well the mood here. All is just perfect. I like it a lot. I'm just wondering if we'll see these two guys in your next post ;-)? Thanks for sharing Rinie.

oups someone took my green candy ;o(

I guess when you are born a man, you stay a man no matter how old you are...:-)-- (I still prefer men who look to those that do not dare to!)THis is a wonderful shot, the red-shirted man's body language and face makes me laugh, the colours of your nighttime scene are fantastic... lovely slice of life.
Please Rinie, could you let me know how you know exactly what is listed under "More Photo Info"? Sorry, but am a relative novice and wonder if D70 has a trick to it, keeping record of the shots. Thanks!
Sarolta

Hi Rinie.
Old men remembering the old times. Well, I like this one. The composition and the use of the light are good, very good.
And also your note.
Regards.

Great moody red shot Rinie, and very funny to see these two men, wishing and dreaming... Well seen!

My kind of shot, my kind of scene (please don't misunderstand, Rinie...LOL)
Great timing, superb moment captured here, great and fitting title. I ke the RED wash over everything. These olf geizers enteringa !red zone" of their own folly!
Wonderful,
Francis

Funny shot Rinie!
funny shot!
...all the world...is a small village!
excellent night view, with hot colors, a nice soft light and a good focus on the 2 old men!
thanks, ciao

This is, no doubt, documentary evidence of the truth behind the phrase..."Dirty Old Man." As a man of advancing years, I have to admit that my mind has yet to catch up to the rest of my body, which leaves me in the unfortunate position of remaining ever alert for beauty to be found in the female of the species both young and old. Blessedly, a touch of maturity has arrived, for I have no delusions that these lovely young women see me as other than I am... an old man. Perhaps that is the real difference between a "dirty old man" and an "old man..." ;-)

I'm glad you occasionally visit older images in your portfolio and share them as the spirit moves you. This is a fine capture that you present very well. That it tells a story no doubt as old as time makes it all the more appreciated. Excellent work in low light conditions.

Hi Rinie, nice view from the night, i know that place and i can tell you that you give the right idea, regards manuel
