Photographer’s Note
This is the "Conceição Pond", one of the most beautiful postcards of Santa Catarina Island. It has one of the first settlements of the island, colonized mostly by people who came from Azores. Much of the Azorean culture is still preserved in this place, like the lacemakers' work, people's accent (almost a dialect), the typical architecture, many kinds of crafts, the religiosity and so on. Unfortunately, since this neighborhood seems to be such a little paradise, the land value is quickly increasing, as well as the number of irregular buildings and the pollution levels on the water. As many "foreigners" come living here, the cultural traditions of its population are also slowly disappearing because of people's adhesion to the new "globalized" culture.
I rotated the photo a little bit, but I am still not sure if the horizon is ok...

Oi Fernando,
Bonita paisagem de Santa Catarina, bom enquadramento, cores com boa saturação, somente a luminosidade esta um pouco alta, mas não tira o brilho desta composição.Bom trabalho!
Abraços.

Oi! A beautiful view, with such warm colours, but the image itself is rather heavily compressed, so it's hard to appreciate all the details. The horizon looks fine unless you look very closely. If you want to make it completely straight, rotate counter-clockwise by 0.25 degrees (see, not much!)
Thanks especially for the interesting note. This is what I like to see on TrekEarth! Much more informative than most of mine :)
Sadly, as more of the world becomes more easily reachable from the overtly wealthy areas of North America, Europe and elsewhere, the current practical protection that many paradises have, namely their inaccessibility, is disappearing. Over-development and pollution can be controlled by a community and authorities, but there are no simple solutions to cultural dilution. Limiting immigration is hard, I guess, if it brings money into an area.
