For the next days I will be traveling and I won't have the chance to post more pictures..now we are down to the second stage and the games are much more interesting where is only one winner!! Today's game of Brazil vs Chile was very dramatic and breathtaking..It is hard to describe what happened after the end of the match at the Copacabana beach where is the huge FIFA screen..the fiesta will go on all night and maybe until Brazil's next match with Colombia..
I had to post an outside picture of the Maracană stadium so you can see the entrance and the surroundings.
This is the main entrance that comes out of the Metro station and leads to all entrances of the stadium.
It is one of the easiest and most flexible stadiums to visit and very easy to get around.
The over bridge that you see is packed every day with thousands of people trying to get inside..There are several people waiting right here asking for a ticket and the prices have already touched the higher limits..For the game Spain vs Chile anybody could sell a ticket to a Chilean fan for about two thousand dollars and the higher amount that a ticket was sold was during the match Russia vs Belgium..a Russian fan bought a ticket right next to me for four thousand dollars..And this is a lot of money if you consider that FIFA sold first all tickets from 90 to 175 dollars..so there is a big market going on..
Another thing that is very surprising is that FIFA had announced before the World Cup even started that no alcohol will be sold or used at any of the stadiums in this World Cup. And everybody was stunned by this regulation..It ends up that Budweiser is a sponsor of the Cup, Budweiser has its headquarters at the Pestana Hotel in Copacabana and is selling beer during all matches. During the match Russia vs Belgium everybody in both sides was pretty much drunk before the game even started but no major incidents happened.
My seating at the Maracană varied and I had the chance to move around to pretty much all levels. I like to go there early before all fans arrive so I can have the place all to myself to take a descent picture so this is why on my last picture you hardly see any people. Once the fans arrive then it is impossible to move easily and take nice pictures because they are standing or moving constantly.
Also when the players enter the stadium it is hard to take a picture because I like to watch the game..
Enjoy the view and see you back later with more exciting pictures from beautiful Brazil!!

Beautiful view of the Maracana. Quite different from what we are accustomed to seeing. Excellent POV you got and resulted in a great overview. Enjoy the sun and do good tours: walk the fine sands of Praia do Forte in Cabo Frio, beautiful views of the "Pontal of the Atalaia" in Arraial do Cabo that is near Cabo Frio. If visiting Paraty by the Rio-Santos highway to the Atlantic coast know that the return has incredible views on the right side. Prepare to stop on the roadside and shoot(but take care). For Ilha Grande you can go through the Conceiçăo de Jacareí (26 km after Mangaratiba) for the same Rio-Santos highway because the boat ride takes less time (45 min) and more options for boats and it's cheaper to keep the car at some parking in front of the pier. I hope to helped you.

Un bon format pour nous présenter cette vue et tes impressions de vécu de cette Coupe du Monde, tu es comme l'envoyée spéciale de TE pour cet événement et hier quel suspens et ambiance pour Brésil/Chili !

Watching the tournament, Eleni, I am impressed with the stadiums built in Brasil. None of our's in Israel similar with size and capacity.
Excelent photo show the many Chilean fans stride in graet anticipation.
Fine taken photo, horizontal format and vivid colors.

Γεια σου Ελένη,
δηλαδή,οι Ισπανοί έφυγαν κι εσύ απολαμβάνεις τα δρώμενα με την ησυχία σου μέχρι να αρχίσει το συνέδριο;

A nice composition of this fine stadium and a great optical illusion too, from the thumbnail I thought the upper part of the stadium was a train and the over bridge was the tracks. I cam easily imagine the huge crowds that this place would witness when a match is one.
Amazing to read that beer was banned during the matches too, I would imagine a lot of people were very surprised and very unhappy to hear this, nobody more so than Budweiser. I thought normally they just served in soft plastic glasses, not an outright ban.
Have a great Sunday, and safe travels!

I must say, I envy you, to be able to be in Brazil and follow the World Cup on such a close level. Great to sea the outside of the stadium for once as well. The band of red clac supporters on the bridge add an attractive splash of color to the scene.
I wish the Greek Team all the best in their 1/8 final against Costa Rica and hope that our Swiss squad will be able to beat the Argentinians, even tough it would be a sensation.
Enjoy the rest of the cup

Interesting pedestrian bridge for its grandeur and huge size. Certainly one of the most exciting places to be now. I am not a fan of crowded venues, but can understand the excitement with this once every 4 years world soccer tournament.
Thanks for giving us a update and personal report on the event.
