Série sobre a minha visita à ILHA BELA - Litoral Norte do Estado de SÃO PAULO - Região SUDESTE do BRASIL - De 30 de Junho a 1º de Julho de 2012 - Nº 006 !

Series on my trip to ILHA BELA (BEAUTIFUL ISLAND) - Northern Coast of the State of SÃO PAULO - SOUTHEASTERN Region of BRAZIL - From June 30th to July 1st, 2012 - # 006 !

ILHA BELA VISTA DA SERRA DO MAR !

ILHA BELA (BEAUTIFUL ISLAND) SEEN FROM THE SEA MOUNTAIN RANGE !

From Campinas to Ilha Bela one drives 270km. First we take DOM PEDRO HIGHWAY from CAMPINAS to JACAREÍ. There, one has two options: DUTRA HIGHWAY (that links SÃO PAULO to RIO DE JANEIRO) and CARVALHO PINTO HIGHWAY (that links SÃO PAULO to TAUBATÉ). In SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS, one takes the TAMOIOS ROAD (that links SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS to CARAGUATATUBA - in a two year period it will be another highway in the state of São Paulo). After that, one takes the RIO-SANTOS ROAD (that links SANTOS to RIO DE JANEIRO by the coast) until SÃO SEBASTIÃO where one takes a ferry-boat to go across the SÃO SEBASTIÃO CANAL to reach the island!

This picture was taken while driving along the TAMOIOS ROAD, right when it reaches the rim of the SEA MOUNTAIN RANGE/SERRA DO MAR, where one can stop and overlook all that region down there! The city is CARAGUATATUBA, the largest in the northern coast of the State of SÃO PAULO. One can also see the northern part of ILHA BELA, there in the upper right corner of this picture!
