MISÉRIA - LARGO DO ROSÁRIO - CENTRO DA CIDADE DE CAMPINAS - FEIÚRA URBANA!

MISERY - ROSÁRIO'S SQUARE - DOWNTOWN CAMPINAS - URBAN UGLINESS!

A week ago, once more, I took my camera with me to work and when going back home, again, I took some more pictures of downtown Campinas.

I called this picture "MISERY" because in the left bottom corner of this image, you can see some people who live on the streets.

These summer days have been rainy and cloudy. I like it though, because we're having lower temperatures!

Unfortunately, downtown Campinas is getting uglier and uglier because of visual pollution, decaying buildings etc., as a result, for example, of bad administrations, among other reasons!

CAMPINAS is a big city, 96km northwest of the city of SÃO PAULO and part of one of the largest metropolitan areas in the state of São Paulo and in Brazil. It had 1,088,611 estimated inhabitants in 2011, being the third most populated city in the State of São Paulo and the fourteenth most populated city in Brazil.

Hi Ney
on the face of it this shot does not look ugly at all. If you lost the high rise buildings this would look so enchanting. But your POV does illustrate the point that bland and tall buildings are crowding in on the more characteristic and beautiful older buildings. In these recession hit times unfortunate homeless people are found in nearly all urban environments. The UK has its fair share, sadly. "Misery" sums it all up so succinctly. Perfectly executed and evocative imagery!

Hello Ney,
A nicely captured urban landscape, which makes good use of the open area of the square to give the scene depth. The high-rise buildings lack character but the same cannot be said about the building at the end of the piazza, which has a certain charm about it. Good technical realisation.

Neyvan Olá, eu gosto desta bela imagem de deterioração ou decomposição interessante que a cidade sofre. Imagem interessante bem composta e executada com boa nitidez, cor e luz. Olá Neyvan,
esta es una foto que denuncia la desigualdad social, y capta la situación de miseria en la que viven muchas personas, desgraciadamente.
Pero también nos permite ver esta bonita plaza y la arquitectura de los edificios que la rodean.
La imagen es nítida y tiene un buen equilibrio en la exposición, a pesar del día nublado.

I understand your revolt about your city. These things happend everywhere and we don't have too much power to change them. We only cand capture them in photos.
