Photographer's Note

The Finger of God is a peak at 1692 meters altitude and the outline of which resembles a hand pointing index finger to the sky. It is one of several geological monuments of the Organ Mountains, which is located in the Serra do Mar, between the cities of Petrópolis, Teresópolis Guapimirim and in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The peak is within the limits of the National Park of the Organ Mountains, in the municipality of Guapimirim, but is best seen from the viewpoint of the Superb, located in the BR-116 at the entrance of Teresópolis.

Mountain climbing in Brazil is closely linked to the achievement of the Finger of God by José Teixeira Guimarães and brothers Americo de Oliveira (Acacio, Alexander and Raul Carneiro) on April 9, 1912
