Photographer's Note

For the next days I will be traveling and I won't have the chance to post more pictures..now we are down to the second stage and the games are much more interesting where is only one winner!! Today's game of Brazil vs Chile was very dramatic and breathtaking..It is hard to describe what happened after the end of the match at the Copacabana beach where is the huge FIFA screen..the fiesta will go on all night and maybe until Brazil's next match with Colombia..
I had to post an outside picture of the Maracană stadium so you can see the entrance and the surroundings.
This is the main entrance that comes out of the Metro station and leads to all entrances of the stadium.
It is one of the easiest and most flexible stadiums to visit and very easy to get around.
The over bridge that you see is packed every day with thousands of people trying to get inside..There are several people waiting right here asking for a ticket and the prices have already touched the higher limits..For the game Spain vs Chile anybody could sell a ticket to a Chilean fan for about two thousand dollars and the higher amount that a ticket was sold was during the match Russia vs Belgium..a Russian fan bought a ticket right next to me for four thousand dollars..And this is a lot of money if you consider that FIFA sold first all tickets from 90 to 175 dollars..so there is a big market going on..
Another thing that is very surprising is that FIFA had announced before the World Cup even started that no alcohol will be sold or used at any of the stadiums in this World Cup. And everybody was stunned by this regulation..It ends up that Budweiser is a sponsor of the Cup, Budweiser has its headquarters at the Pestana Hotel in Copacabana and is selling beer during all matches. During the match Russia vs Belgium everybody in both sides was pretty much drunk before the game even started but no major incidents happened.
My seating at the Maracană varied and I had the chance to move around to pretty much all levels. I like to go there early before all fans arrive so I can have the place all to myself to take a descent picture so this is why on my last picture you hardly see any people. Once the fans arrive then it is impossible to move easily and take nice pictures because they are standing or moving constantly.
Also when the players enter the stadium it is hard to take a picture because I like to watch the game..
Enjoy the view and see you back later with more exciting pictures from beautiful Brazil!!
