Photographer's Note

Here a view inside the Mother Church of Paraty. This was a very difficult photo to take, since the church was crowded with parishioners.

I took this photo on a sunday morning from the church door and in this moment was occuring a mass related with the Festival of the Divine Holy Spirit.

About the inside:

1) Altar Mor of Our Lady of Remedies:
Patroness of Paraty, whose image is made in polychrome wood, of the eighteenth century, is enthroned in the central shrine. In this altar you can still see wooden images of St. Joaquim (right) and St. Anne (left), both from the eighteenth century.

2) Altar of St. Michael:

3) Altar of St. Francis:

4) Altar of San Roque:

5) Altar of Our Lady of Rosary:

6) Chapel of Our Lord of the Passion:

These images, in natural size, have articulation in the arms and head and are part of the processions and ceremonies of Holy Week.
