Absolutely beautiful shot! Consider cropping a bit to remove the underexposed tree and dock in the foreground. Have you taken many shots of this type? I noticed your ISO was at 200; might a higher ISO (say 1600) have helped the shot? Did you use a timer or remote?

U just discovered your gallery, it has nice colors and lights, and here a good series about thunderbolts! Good POV and compo with the palm tree doing an interesting FG and giving depth... some of the lights are a bit strong on the sea, but nicely caught thunder!

Incredible. No other words. This genre of photography, is extremely difficult, & the results usually fickle. A perfect decisive moment shot & time exposure with excellent sharpness. Tfs!

Oi Ralf! Estou vendo que a noitada de raios rendeu uma coleção de fotos ótimas. Tive uma chance dessas no litoral há alguns anos e espero por outra, pois os resultados são sempre impressionantes e únicos. As luzes da cidade estão mais fixas aqui, embora ainda um pouco superexpostos. Nada mais natural quando se tem que abrir o diafragma por um tempo razoável em busca da captura dos raios. talvez um pp pudesse amenizar estes efeitos. De qualquer forma a foto é fantástica e premia a sua paciência e esforço em capturar, pois sei bem como é a tarefa. Mas compensa... e o mar ainda fica naquela calmaria depois...rsrs.

Fantastica esta tua foto , aqui está uma foto que nunca consegui fotografar ate hoje , aqui em Portugal as tempestades com raios são poucas e são quase sempre de inverno com chuva e vento o que torna quase impossivel de fotografar , gostei muito dos tons de cor azul os reflexos ficarm muito bonitos , é um belo momento ,parabéns!!!

Wow. Amazing shot. Fantastic colours overall, with a deep deep blue all around, and the ever fantastic capture of lightning. It's almost as if the couple of spots of excess light coming off the shore is caused by the lightning striking. Well done here.

How one can manage to shoot storm lightning is to me a total mystery, a "stroke of luck" it seems but probably that you had the good reflex ! Very powerful and great atmosphere,

Impressive capture of the lightning!
Even if the exposure is 14 sec I guess the timing isn't easy, in particular when it comes to capturing 3-4 in the same shot...

A fine gallery you have got here on TE, congrats.
I am fascinated by thunderstorms and especially the bolts of lightening, which here in your capture look like fine hairline fractures. The tonal blues compliment the scene well coupled with the palm tree and bright lights from the Island. Good work,

Ralf,
voce realmente mora no Brasil e fala portugues. O seu nome nao e nada tipico para estas latitudes tropicais, no entanto a sua galeria e tropicalissima e muitas criticas sao em portugues.
Reconheci a localidade desta imagem ja pelo thumbnail e fiquei totalmente atraido pelo dinamismo com estes raios ilustrando Angra dos Reis em momentos dramaticos. A composicao esta perfeita com o pequeno detalhe deste poste bem a frente. Eu teria dado uma clonagem naquele troco.
