Photographer’s Note

Giant dolls in Belo Horizonte? That's right! It is the festival Sesi Bonecos which is traveling throughout Brazil and which was in the Station Square last weekend. The highlight, naturally, were the famous giant dolls from Olinda. I've also posted a picture of one of these dolls in their "natural habitat".

Olha aí, Pernambuco mostrando a sua arte e folclore para Minas Gerais ( e para o mundo, via TE ) ver !
Um lindo colorido desses bonecos gigantes de Olinda e ,ao fundo, o bonito e bem conservado prédio da Estação Central de BH, o qual já tive o prazer de visitar, há uns dois anos atrás.
O resto é alegria e alto astral para o povão ver!
Bela apresentação , Alexandre! Como bom pernambucano que sou agradeço-lhe mais esta!

A very striking photo, bright and colourful, and showing us something of the culture of this place. I like the way you composed the shot, allowing the huge dolls to tower over the viewpoint, and the gathered people, and dominating the fine architecture behind. E os bonecos gigantes estão aí na Praça da Estação trazendo a alegria, as cores e toda a animação do folclore nordestino. A foto está muito bonita e nos mostra com toda a nitidez os detalhes e a bandeira de Pernambuco estampada na camisa do boneco. Parabéns!

Excellent daily life shot at the festival. By also including the people we can see just how huge these dolls are. because of prspective they seem to tower over the buildings too.:)

Interessantes os bonecos. Eles formam um belo casal. Aquele boneco gigante de jacaré subindo a torre parece até de verdade. Belo espetáculo, muito bem retratado. Parabéns!

muito bonito o colorido dos bonecos, e entre eles o enquadramento perfeito da torre da estação, muito boa a luz, a nitidez e o pov. bom senso estético numa foto cujo assunto estava em movimento, legal a bandeira de PE na barriga do boneco. boa foto,parabéns

The giant dolls are very clear and sharp. The light is really good too and the people surrounding the dolls are a good reference to know how big they are. The building in the background is really nice too!

esta escena es espontánea y muy interesante, porque veo que también en Brasil existe la tradición de estos "gigantes", que es muy popular en Catalunya.
Me gusta el contraste de estos grandes muñecos entre la gente y la arquitectura que vemos al fondo, formando una composición vital y agradable.

This picture is very attractive. Not only because shows this colourful dolls in the foreground but also because documents an interesting event and the place where is happening. I think the warm afternoon light played a major role in making everything seems so alive.

Olá Alexandre, você vai rir de mim, mas morro de medo desses bonecos hahahaha, na verdade qualquer boneco com esses aspecto me dá nos nervos, dei sorte quando fui a Pernanbuco no Carnaval e não ter visto quase nenhum.
Mas a foto está excelente, belas cores e demonstração da cultura local.
Gostei da estação ao fundo.

Great colours & beautiful light! Like how the orange costume dominates...but no less interesting is the light on the magnificent Station building, giving pastel hues. A good daily life shot, which has used the architecture in the backdrop to very fine effect!

Belas cores, luz e nitidez. É interessante o boneco vestido com a bandeira de Pernambuco.
O edifícios ao fundo também está muito bonito.
Em Portugal também há uns bonecos assim ou parecidos chamados gigantones e cabeçudos.

es curioso como en cada pais tienen su diferente estilo, en españa los analogos son los gigantes, me gusta el colorido de la imagen con toda esa gente alrededor, y el edificio que asoma detras, buen trabajo!
