Photographer’s Note

The artificial lagoon of Pampulha, located in the North region of Belo Horizonte, is part of the architectural complex of Pampulha, projected by Oscar Niemeyer, when Juscelino Kubitschek was the mayor of Belo Horizonte, in the years 40 (both participated in the creation of Brasilia later).

The complex is formed by the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Museum of Art, the "Casa do Baile" and the Yacht Tennis Club. The gardens of Burle Marx, the paintings of Portinari and the sculptures of Ceschiatti, Zamoiski and José Pedrosa complete the project.
Over the years, other projects enlarged the complex, like the Stadium for soccer, known as "Mineirão", the indoor sporting arena "Mineirinho", the Zoo and so on.
