Photographer’s Note

Remember my first Patrick's boat photo? That one was taken on a cloudy day, and I returned to the same place on a sunny day to make experiences shooting the same subjects with different weather. What you think? See the previous photo at:

About the place: this is Porto Belo, a tourist city at southern Brazil, known for it's good diving places and for the fishing.

Have you noticed how all the colours are much stronger in this v ersion because of the difrent light. In the first version the colour were more blue and faded becuase of the wheater cast. I also notice that i can see a bit more of the land on the other side. Not only becuase of the difrent angle but it is also clearer since there is no fog in the air. The mood in this photo is very difrent. This is much more welcoming while the first version feel more like an abandoned place. Nice experiment Mathias.

The texture of the sand and the boat are well-seen. The sky is not very interesting but csomehow, the cloud blances out the composition. Good shot.

What a difference it makes to shoot the same subject in a sunny day, the colors are coming out better. I think you might need to straighten the horizon, its quite tilted. Just scroll the photo on your screen and you'l see how the shore line is not straight.

Despite stronger and brighter colors of this version, despite more prominent shadows and better contrast of Patrick No.2, finally despite beautiful blue sky and clouds of this shot I like your first version much more. Maybe because of the angle.
That doesn't mean that this version is not good. Just the previous was better IMHO.

I like in general to have a more soft light to bring out more details and structure in objects of old materials. Here I think you have stronger colours but the light is maybe a bit to harsh. In the end maybe most of all a matter of what one likes.

Cool boat, the colors remind me of the boats on Malta. I like the cloudbank that sort of copies the mountains. Nice composition
