Photographer’s Note
Here we can see the fish market, located in the central area of Rio Grande city, in the banks of the biggest Brazilian lake, not so far from the sea.
Rio Grande is one of the biggest ports of Brazil, it is a strategical point cause there isn't any good place to shelter a boat 500 kilometers at north or at south of this place.
Portuguese navigators arrived here in 1531 and they thought this was a big river and cause this they nomed the place "Rio Grande" that would be the name of the whole state in the future.
In that time Portugal and Spain were trying to take control of the Plata river, cause the mines of silver in the highlands. Then Portugal invaded Spanish territory and founded Colonia do Sacramento, located in front Buenos Aires. Rio Grande was used like a link between that city and the other Brazilian cities located at north. The city was founded in 1737, taking control of the whole seashore of Rio Grande do Sul. Anyway, in 1763, the city was invaded by Spaniards from Buenos Aires and stay under its power during 13 years, when was put free by Portuguese troops.
.................................................

Boa fotometria e enquadramento.

Hello Jorge,
Thanks for the very informative historic note. It is very well illustrated. This romantically looking place of Rio Grande city seems to be squeezed by newer buildings. It is a good fact that still there are such places in the city. You have captured one of them very well with good composition and quality. Excellent job!
Best regards,
Sergiy

Jorge,

Hello Jorge,
I find the composition very interesting and a little "geometrical" - thanks to these long diagonal lines at the bottom). Very lovely view, good rich colours!
On second thought, my suggestion about the crop at the top: I might add a bit of space to the top... :)
Best regards,
Elena

Cumprimentos,
F.
