Photographer’s Note

The traditional Portuguese house didn't have a garden in front of it, the whole façade was like a wall, full of windows and doors, protecting the garden and the kitchen garden of the strange eyes. When Brazil begun to receive a big influence from Unites States the houses begun to show a garden in front of their façades. We can see the old buildings of Pelotas city using the old tradition, this one was interesting because its façade had a small opened area; around this ornament we can find two stairs that goes to the main door, located in a higher level. We can see the beautiful fountain they created to addorn the building. This rich house was becoming to be restored when I visited that town. I guess it is very beautiful and creative.

A casa tradicional portuguesa não ostentava jardins diante de sua fachada, era como uma muralha de janelas e portas protegendo os jardins e as hortas dos olhares estranhos. Quando o Brasil começou a sofrer forte influência cultural norte-americana, as casas começaram a ganhar jardins diante de suas fachadas, algo bem comum hoje em dia. Ao caminhar por Pelotas vemos as velhas casas usando a antiga tradição lusitana. Este casarão, porém, era uma excessão, pois a muralha de janelas e portas deixava se abrir ao centro para mostrar esta fonte, adornada pelo menino e o peixe, tendo ao redor duas escadas que subiam até a porta principal, erguida num nível mais alto. Penso que é um belíssimo exemplar de arte e arquitetura. O edifício estava começando a passar por um trabalho de restauro.

O ramos verdes deram vida, o "menino" mais claro está em destaque, e os detalhes da grade ao fundo no meu ver são o destaque. Interessante a nota sobre os jardins, não conhecia isso.

lovely picture of this fountain with good light and perfect choice of vertical format. Good overall quality with fine sharpness and so many details. Good management of light so that the boy and the fish turned out perfectly in front of the grey wall. Very good photojob. Parabéns.

He is a bad boy, catching the fish in a public place and remain naked :)

Very nice carvings. I like the vertical presentation showing the backdrop of the smaller carvings on the railings. A very good capture of very sharp observation.

Olá Jorge, confesso que o que realmente me atrai aqui não é a fonte com o menino mas o gradeamento superior com os rostos e os leões. Fico com vontade de fazer uma imagem só com essas 'medalhas' todas, pois acho que o resultado gráfico seria muito interessante, especialmente com essa luz lateral. Seja como for, esta composição 2 em 1 está muito boa. Deveria ser um palacete de alguém bem sucedido nos negócios...
