Photographer's Note

Araucaria tree (araucaria augustifolia) is the most important tree in the higher and coldest areas in southern Brazil, the first description of it was done by Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca in the 16th century when he saw these trees first time while crossing the highlands of Pitanga, he was using a big Indian road that went to Peru. He wrote in his diary about monkeys in the top of araucárias throwing balls of its seeds to the ground while savage pigs were in the base of the trees eating them too. In the next days I will show an image done by this expedition at side of the famous Indian way (Road of Peabirú).
