Photographer's Note

Bosque do Papa - nativo de preservação estadual com paisagismo idealizado por Burle Marx, foi inaugurado logo após a primeira visita do Papa João Paulo II ao Brasil, em 1980. As casas de troncos, de arquitetura típica polonesa, foram trazidas de vários locais da Região Metropolitana de Curitiba e montadas na entrada do bosque para formar o Memorial da Imigração Polonesa. Uma delas foi utilizada na missa rezada pelo Papa polonês em Curitiba. Local de festas da colônia polonesa, o Memorial inclui uma capela e exposições de artefatos de madeira utilizados pelos colonos poloneses e artesanato, além das estátuas do Papa João Paulo II e do astrônomo Nicolau Copérnico.

Pope's Wood - native state of preservation with landscaping designed by Burle Marx, was opened after the first visit of Pope John Paul II to Brazil in 1980. The log houses, architecture typical Polish, were brought from various locations in the metropolitan region of Curitiba and mounted at the entrance of the wood to form the Polish Immigration Memorial. One was used in the Mass said by the Polish Pope in Curitiba. Local celebrations of the Polish colony, the memorial includes a chapel, and exhibition of artifacts of wood used by Polish settlers and crafts, in addition to statues of Pope John Paul II and the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.
