Morinda citrifolia, commonly known as noni (from Hawaiian language), ninth Tahiti, aal (in Hindi language), is a small tree of the family Rubiaceae. The Morinda citrifolia originates from Southeast Asia, having been spread by humans through Asia, Pacific Islands, French Polynesia, Puerto Rico and most recently the Dominican Republic. Tahiti remains the place of further cultivation.

nunca houvi falar dessa planta. Bem interesante, vou procurar sobre as propriedades medicinais dela, pois trabalho com isso e tentarei descobrir se existe alguma planta da mesma família aqui na restinga de Macaé.

Strange herbal fruit found in Brazil ! this is common in singapore/malaysia and my whole family consume this. The young green fruit and young leaves are eaten raw as salad while the juice is extracted when rippened but have to bear the teribble smell. The matured fruit softens and changes its color to yellowish/white and locally called 'meng-ku-du' (pronounced 'meng-koo-doo') which has good medicinal value trusrted for generations and now known commercially as 'noni'. The only diff here is the size, ours is half as shown. Maria thanks for sharing Have a nice day.
