PRAIA DE JARDIM DE ALÁ OU ALAH - ALAH'S GARDEN BEACH

This beach is located in the BAIRRO COSTA AZUL/Costa Azul (Blue Coast) District. It's around 15km from downtown Salvador and its waters are from the Atlantic Ocean. In the beginning of the beach (coming from the south or from downtown), one finds this garden with lots of coconut trees, incorporated to the cityscape after one of the urbanizations of the city shoreline.
The beach in this area has lots of rocks and during the low tide some natural pools allow people to have fun while bathing in them. To the north, lots of "barracas"/kind of snack bars that are always crowded. In this area, the water is warm but the waves are high. On summertime, lots of cultural projects are developed there, with aerobics, all kinds of dances - specially local ones, "capoeira", "tai chi chuan", among many others both for the locals and the tourists. There's also the "PARQUE COSTA AZUL"/Costa Azul Park with lots of sport facilities and other cultural and leisure places where events take place pretty often. In this beach, a giant sidewalk starts and goes northwards for 15km up to the PRAIA DE ITAPUÃ/ITAPUÃ BEACH, with special tracks for bikes and gymnastic apparatus spread all over. The whole place is ideal for week-ends with the family, including pic-nics!
