Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken from the lighthouse on Morro de São Paulo (Hill of Saint Paul) an island close to Salvador in Bahia. There aren't too many photos from this island on the site, so thought I would add some. The island is a simply beautiful place, laid back with no cars. The real Brazilian lifestyle, especially Bahia is evident here, with the relaxed nature of everybody.
The beaches are fantastic (and I hear even better in the summer, as opposed to the winter months that I visited).
I tried to capture a unique shot of the beach, with the sea, palm trees, and a group of "Lost" shipwrecked individuals! Though they don't exactly look too haggard.
Hope you like it.

Hello David,
Very beautiful photo :) Very good composition and very pleasant colours! I especially like the theme in the lost sence (well, I'm sort of a fan of lost). I also like various shades of colour (the sand).
It seems that you have a strong tendency to turn your seascape photos into "paintings" (I tend to do so, also) Interesting POV good notes

Hi David,

Hi David,
Good title and more important, a very good photograph.
Like your framing very much, it tells the story so well.
Perfect moment for the capture, the waves on the beach add movement and the group huddled together make for an interesting human element, I like the "outcast" sitting to the side.
Lovely image.

hello David,
great shot, I like a lot how the square format ties all the elements of the scene together. the waterline is a great way to divide the photo into two separate, but closely linked parts, while the palm trees give the idea of scale and your point of view. but what I like best is the kid who's simply enjoying the moment while the rest of the group does indeed seem to be discusing the "way out". excellent work, my compliments.
best,
Kristine
p.s. and don't mention "Lost", it is still toooooo long until the next season... :)

An unusual POV, David, but it works very well. I would have been tempted to clone out that lone sunbather on the sand to enhance the effect of your 'lost' group in the top right :)
Cheers . . . David

The beaches of Brazil..you know how to enjoy yourself David !!
Really an impressive composition..using the simple elements..you have produced an image that surely stands out..needless to mention the technical side of it..perfect..
Love it how youve controlled the exposure..what was the white balance ?
Reminds me of the tv series LOST...the fourth season is premiering this april end..can wait !!
Cheers
