Photographer’s Note

This is a branch of the astounding Negro River, in the Amazon Rain Forest. This place is near Manaus, a 1.5 million people city in the middle of the forest. During the rainy season, that goes up until May, the river level increases about 20-25 meters, and lots of branchs and rivers appear. In the dry season, the level goes down and this river you see becomes only sand and forest. The Negro and Amazon rivers are so wide that it just looks like an ocean, or a bay.

The "floodable forest", which every year gets flooded, is called the "igarapés".
