Sajama volcano (6522m. high, yet scant snowcover). The photo was taken on the way from La Paz to the Chilean border at Chungara at around 4500m. altitude. It was too windy for reflections and the sky was covered with slow moving high clouds, this was taken when a break of sunlight illuminated the foreground. I still had to darken the sky and add contrast. 22mm. focal length.
Sajama is a stratovolcano, inactive for the last 10000 years.

Wow, what an excellent image. Great details with exquisite colors and the composition is just perfect. The clarity and sharpness is spot on. Color and light very well balanced. I made it down to Ecuador and Peru but not Bolivia. It’s one of my dream destinations. I hope I will be there soon. Thank so much, I really enjoyed it.

Yes, this is a particularly interesting landscape, it is hard to imagine animals or people living or visiting this seemingly inhospitable destination. That peak looks like it would be a challenging climb; the view would be no doubt incredible from the summit. I suppose that the air is so thin and without much condensed moisture at this altitude that snowfall would not occur in great quantities. I could be wrong, seems to make sense though. A great scene, keep up the exciting posts.

not a lot to say here. The composition is perfect with a very good balance between the foreground with the grass that resembles somewhat with the Devil's Corn Field at Death Valley and finally the sea in the middle and the volcano very much off center in the backgound. Interesting that this is such an old volcano. Usually a perfect cone shaped volcano is a sign of being a young fellow that still has a long way to go. Mt. St. Helens is a perfect example for a young volcano until the las blast ripped of the north face leaving a bad scar at the once perfect cone.

Encore un superbe paysage que tu sais idéalement "mettre en scène". J'aime beaucoup le premier plan avec ces petites touffes d'herbe.

This is a kind of landscape that I use to enjoy very very much while traveling, although I´m not sure if I would love to live in it. The atmosphere of the photo is very interesting, I think it´s quite good the way you have placed both the volcano and the lake (I love the shape of the shore) in the composition. Congratulations, Tan.

Verynice altiplano image, with the foreground laguna you got nice depth and a good foreground flat terrain over which the volcano rises.
Have a ncie day JY

What a fantastic landscape! The wide open spaces, with no trees and few bushes, and a huge volcano towering over the whole scene. I think you did a really good job with the processing, as I'm very familiar with these low contrast shots with high clouds or milky sky. Beautiful work!

Hello Tan, beautiful one, with a great POV over that small bushes, that would appear as big pines on a shore of a giant lake!
excellent tone and quality too.

I missed this place when visiting Bolivia in octobre 07. We saw Sajama from a distance. But now I can grasp what I have actually missed. I like the metallic shine of the snow on top. It significantly adds to the sheer beauty and grandeur of the volcano and provides good contrast against the darker features in the picture. You have really captured this place at its best. Just by looking at this picture you can tell this is Bolivia’s highest point.

This image is impressive. unfortunately I couldn't to tak pictures of it when I was in Bolivia, my bus was very near of Sajama and I almost broke my neck trying to see it. Fabulous and unforgetable.. beautiful image this one, we can see the landscape around, it is sad weather wasn't the best
