Photographer’s Note
I took images of the same place a few years back (see my first post), nice to come again to these beautiful places.
The lake water contains many minerals and metals. High levels of iron, manganese and zinc and color can be attributed to runoff from
abandoned mining sites in the Milluni Basin.
The intriguing underwater river is actually a real river what makes it's way in the dry lake bed when the water level drops. This lake is one of the major water sources for the city of La Paz - ofcourse the water goes through a treatment process.
Colours are real

Hello Shir,
What an amazing place.
Mother nature keeps surprizing me!
Using a polarizer, to see within the lake is a great decision here!
Great colors and point of view.

Hi Shir !
Great shot and light. It is an unreal view which seems coming from outer space. I like the colors and the contrast as well as the curves made by the river.
Well done.
Regards.

Excellent and unusual view, Shir, especially the underwater river is astonishing. Great colours, this terracota colour of mineral deposits contrasts well with the blue of the lake.
Cheers

Quelles couleurs !
La composition avec ce "serpent d' eau" nous conduit vers l' horizon.
Dommage que la colline du fonds ne soit pas plus intéressante, mais ça, tu n' y peux rien !

I really like how the river creates a nice lead in to the photo. The composition is very good with a nice tight framing, and the colors are amazing.

Hi Shir,
quality post...it does look beautiful or even strange but i reckon the runoffs containing metals are not really a friendly thing...it is an cracking landscape, and the way to get there is absolutely awesome but the lake has a dead zone human mark written over it to be honest...cherers, arturo

why I am not suprised that you have some many points for this one already, and i guess there is no reason to repeat the amazement again...:D...but I am also awaiting some more shots...maybe the 'wide' one??? nice that you have preserved all the colors in the original setting. comments on the place...whish I was there! I took a look at this photo and, following your note, your earlier post of the same subject, quite an interesting comparison.
And, well, I prefer the earlier version, the wide-angle view of that post did a better job of bringing the parts of the scene together as a unity.
Here the photo tends to break apart around the upper one-third point, the lower part with the river doesn't have much to say to the background hills in terms of shapes and lines in the image.
The old photo succeeded better in this area, in that photo the hills are present both in the middle-ground and the background, that helps to keep the composition together.
With this telephoto-view, I would in fact be tempted to crop the background hills altogether, to concentrate only on the wonderful swirling shapes and colours of the river and lake. At least, when I scroll down a bit, and the hills disappear out of sight of my browser window, I like the photo much more.
Yes, in fact the swirling dark blue line in between the golden tones of the shore before it disappears into the equally dark waters behind, looks so great, that I find the inclusion of the background hills and sky quite diminishing in the overall appeal of the image. It would have been better without. (Sorry for critiquing hard like this, but well, that is much what I do around here).

Hey Shir,
This is a place I know quite well from books and research work... but I had never seen such an impressive picture of Milluni lake.
The colours are impressive... just looks like an fried eggs ;-)
Nice work, though I must say I do agree with Torben about cropping the upper part.
Hasta luego

Hi,
This is a wonderful pic, with lots of colours and contrast.
The framing is great with upper and lower parts of the pic seeming more real than the center.
Very nice,
JB.

Hi Shir,
Bolivia has long been on my list of must-go-to countries, and this is the kind of image that drives my interest. I very much like vertical compositions in which different layers of colours or other elements are present, and this picture fits the bill beautifully. The colours, the lake, the distant mountains, the blue sky... what a wonderful place!
