on the bolivian altiplano, 4000 meters high, is the laguna colorada, windy and peaceful place, where pink and white flamingos live
Each laguna has a special color, this one is the most characteristic of the sur lipez.

Bonjour Jacques,
This place looks amazing! Is it used to dry salt? These colours are quite typical of overly salty water. At this altitude I would guess it's quite rare! Maybe some other kind of naturally occuring mineral deposit?

More informations :
Laguna colorada is 4278m high.
Red colors come from the diatomas color.
Salt deposit aroud the lake is Ulexite (boron salt).
Cerro Pabellon, on the back ground, is 5298m high.
