Detail photo of National Congress (Government) Palace located at Plaza Murillo in La Paz, Capital city of Bolivia.
La Paz, is Bolivia’s third most-populous city, the seat of the country’s government. The city sits in a bowl surrounded by the high Andes mountains. As it grew, the city of La Paz climbed the hills, resulting in varying elevations from 3,200 to 4,100 m.
Overlooking the city is towering triple-peaked Illiami (6,438m a.s.l.), which is always snow-covered and can be seen from several spots of the city, including from the neighboring city of El Alto where the La Paz International Airport is located. El Alto is the Highest International Airport in the world with the runay elevation at 4,061m a.s.l..
Due to lower air density at this altitude during warm day time, the larger JET airplanes can start and land at this airport only during night time or early morning with reduced cargo load.
Illimani was the site where Boeing 727 Eastern Air Lines Flight 980 from Paraguay to La Paz crashed on January 1, 1985, with 29 fatalities caused by poor weather and visibility.
I’ve posted Illiami photo in this gallery some time ago. You can see it here:

A splendid capture of this colourful building which sits well against the saturated blue sky. An image with superb colours and sharpness and excellent colour contrasts.
Romano46 (18472) 2014-02-21 6:59
la foto ha un immediato impatto con i suoi colori molto vivi.
Cìè da dire però che l'eccesso di saturazione non disturba, anzi appare assai gradevole anche per l'eccellente definizione del soggetto.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

very successful picture with outstanding colors. I like the POV and the angle you took this picture from as well as tighter framing to help focus on details of this interesting architecture.
The bush in the corner brings some life to the composition and a tiny bird above the building is a real add on.
Superb contrast and sharpness. My congratulation!

Interesting way to present the building, a creative crop showing tclock and cupola details in great contrast with the sky
Capture taken at the right moment with the flying plane
I know the dangeruos is this place, football players don t want to play there because of the altitude
Very well done

A splendid building, captured with superb POV, I like the diagonal which makes the building with respect to the sky, sensational play of volumes that provide both windows and columns, as the dome that tops the ornate facade.
Sensational these vivid colors that give an image with many shades.
A bright image with optimum clarity.
Good job. I love it.
Enjoy a good weekend.

Stunning color contrasting this shot and the architecture is really wonderful.you chose a really fine vantage point to show this as the building fills the frame do nicely and is shown off so well against the vivid blue sky.

Bonjour, cher Miro,

hello Miro, Wonderful shot of this building from La Paz. Marvelous colours in a bright sunny day, beautiful composition. La Paz is a fascinating city and batter ywhen you have a little time in high altitudes before.

What a beautiful looking building from La Paz. Excellent architectural style. From your well chosen POV you have presented the entire facade of this building. Marvelous contrast between the sky and the building. Since this is Bolivia, is that a condor flying up in the sky? excellent shot, with wonderful colours and superb clarity. Thanks for sharing.

You're capturing well this architecture by a good angle and very excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see National Government Palace with strong structure and colorful facade. It harmonizes beautifully with the blue sky. And, it's also impressive in National flg in front site dome roof.
abmdsudi (53105) 2014-02-22 6:33
A brilliant shot in all its glory, dynamically angled and processed with loads of detail giving a lovely clean and crisp finish to this super architecture. I think you have brought out the best in the edifice perfectly aligned verticals revealing out the character within the frame. The colours absolutely sing out and strikingly stand out from blue sky but the dome looks a bit unusual to me possibly influenced very much by local culture. This shot is without doubt amazing justifies the adjectives. Congrats.

another excellent one. I love here the colour contrast and the razor sharp details of the architecture. Great framing too. Excellent shot. Tfs.

The tight frame is putting the building in evidence. The point of view is allowing me to distinguish the détails and the colours of the architecture of the Palace. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colours. Have a nice day.

Sounds like it would be somewhat a of a hair raising experience to fly in and out of here!? Some glorious light you've captured this day, and the colors contained within this composition are quite soothing...there's a tropical atmosphere associated with the orange and deep blue combination. Good timing as well to have a bird flying by, adding that extra element to the mix. Wonderfully exposed to show all of the fine detail of this architectural beauty, and I really like the diagonal cut from this point of view. Whew, I'm out of breath now just writing this and thinking of the high altitude! :) Have a great day ahead. Take care.

Impressive facade of the Goverment-palace, mostly influenced archi.-style by Spanish state-of-the-art monuments, very similar to a pavillon saw in Sevilla.
Strong daylight probably forced you to use F8 aperture, but that gave its fine details shown.
Have a nice new week,
Fis2 (96141) 2014-02-23 5:57
Curious fragment of building.
Excellent frame and colors (HDR ?).

Salut cher Miro
A very beautifully saturated, contrasted and illuminated photo. I really like the historical architecture, but most of all like the tight framing and the impressive post processing. The warm light has been controlled to great effect. Thanks for sharing.

I remember very well this square and this building. I remember a façade where I could see many marks of bullets from a conflict few months before my visit. very nice image showing a beautiful angle of the building. TFS.
mkamionka (35964) 2015-05-05 7:51
quite a strong processing but the final effect is very pleasant and definitely eye catching. I bet it looks much better than it actually is. Fantastic sky and also the flag adds so much color.
Bolivia is very high on my list of places which I would like to visit although mainly because of the deserts, but I am glad to see that also architecture is stunning there.
Very well done,
