Photographer's Note

I have still three days to post photos before I will start to use my camera and fill the SD cards again:).
I am inspired this time by wonderful oldies that we can admire thanks to Gert (and a bit by Craig who was in South America not a long time ago).
It is old scanned shot from the time that TE hasn't existed yet, And of course no digital camera, prehistory:).
I could start thinking about far travels only in nineties. Earlier it was for me quite impossible to go anywhere West from communist country. On the top of my dream travels was Machu Picchu, Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku)and Chichen Itza. So, my first big journey was to Peru, and second one to Mexico.

In the books I read in my youth it was supposed that the Sun Gate in Tiwanaku was very very old.
" In 1945, Arthur Posnansky estimated that Tiwanaku dated to 15,000 BC using archaeoastronomical techniques. Later, as a result of the reevaluation of the techniques that Posnansky used to estimate the age of Tiwanaku, expert archaeoastronomical archaeologists concluded that they were invalid as they were a "sorry example of misused archaeoastronomical evidence".
In fact, it was not so old, but the area around Tiwanaku may have been inhabited as early as 1500 BC as a small agriculturally based village. Most research, though, is based around the Tiwanaku IV and V periods between AD 300 and AD 1000, during which Tiwanaku grew significantly in power. During the time period between 300 BC and AD 300 Tiwanaku is thought to have been a moral and cosmological center to which many people made pilgrimages. The ideas of cosmological prestige are the precursors to Tiwanaku's powerful empire.

But it was very interesting anyway. And for me it was fullfilling thirty years dreams.

See the map.

MISTAKE! It is much too big for beta site. In www it looks not so bad. I will wait, maybe I will delete it later.
Safer not to loose smileys.
