Photographer’s Note
The "Rock Tree" is located in the very remote south bolivian Altiplano at an altitude of about 4.800m. This highly eroded rock formation (also called "Dali Rock" because of the surreal shape and scenery) is about 5 meters high. Because of the small diameter of it's "trunk", Arbol de Piedra is very fragile and therefore it seems to collapse in a blink of an eye - at least from a geological point of view. ;-)

Really amazing place.
I wonder how the same rock would look like photographed from below. That way you would have just a blue sky as a background. Now all the mountains in the distance distract attention a bit.

Hi Karsten!!
Very abstract structure of the stone...I wonder by looking the base and the top of the structure...
Nice contrast between milky white snow and the bluish sky....
Have a nice day!!

Hi Karsten
Despite the fact I visited this place, I am always impressed with shots of South Lipez. The snow add value because most of time the Arbol is seen with it.
Cheers

Fantastic photo here of this surreal and amazing rock formation. Your photo captures the beauty and wonder of this place very well! Very nicely done. I also love the way the snow is shaped around the smaller rock on the right, too.
