Salt gathering Photo

Photographer’s Note

And still a photo on the Uyuni's salar, this so incredible place. Here, it is a place of salt gathering. The salt is scraped from the surface and put in cone for drying. After a time, a truck comes and the salt is taken away.
For technical point, this photo was over-exposed of 1.5 diaph in order to get the salt white an so overcome the limitation of the lightmeter of the camera.

Bellissima immagine con spettacolari motivi geometrici. Stupendo anche l'orizzonte completamente piatto e fortemente delineato.

Looks like it could be on another planet in a film. Very interesting subject matter. I especially think the dark sky on top that turns into a deeper blue adds to the mystery of the photo.

Yves this is a very picture. The exposure worked well to get a nice white colour for the salt. The sky is also well saturated. The image show us an interesting place. An immensity of salt fields that create an almost out of this world landscape. Thanks Yves.

Les tas définissent une trés belle perspective bien décentrée. C'est une reussite technique que cette photo en plein midi, aucune ombre et malgré tout les quelques contrastes créent une élegante texture au sol. Le facteur humain nous rend compte de l'échelle sous ce ciel vu de l'espace (pour les couleurs).
Trés bien fait.

Belle perspective constituée par ces tas de sel et magnifique exposition de ceux-ci avec un rendu excellent des blancs. Pour ma part, je trouve le ciel un peu trop envahissant et trop saturé et j'aurais sans doute préféré un format pano avec 1/3 de ciel seulement....mais ce n'est que ma vision de choses et je peux comprendre aussi ton choix de 50/50 pour amplifier le contraste ciel-lac salé.

Beau cliché graphique bicolore. C'est épuré, mais majesteux. Bien heureusement le camion et le personnage viennent rompre la monotonie.

Le contraste entre ces tas de sel blancs et le ciel bleu profond est superbe.
Je trouve l'exposition très claire du sel parfaite, et j'aurai par contre peut-être un peu diminué le contraste du ciel, je t'ai fait un WS, dis-moi ce que tu en penses.

je trouve que le contraste que tu as réalisé entre le sel et le ciel est magnifique: tu as su bien joué avec l'exposition.
Le graphisme de l'image est aussi un plus.

Salut Yves,

as you say it's an incredible place. The repetition of the salt cones is something special and the truck just adds an extra dimension to the shot. Well exposed and I love the saturated sky, it contrasts so well with the salt. A superb capture and worthy of more recognition, well done.

between al your snowphotos i first thougt that this also snow was ;-)

Amazing place and great capture with the strong contrast of all that 'white' with the deep bluesky. Good idea to let the truck on your image so that we know how big the cones are.

vive les random qui me permettent de découvrir des photos quelquefois postées plusieurs mois en arrière, et c'est le cas de celle ci - sa vignette m'a vraiment attiré, il faut dire que les couleurs claquent ...j'ai bien aimé le WS proposé, du bon boulot - bravo à tous les deux -

A great shot from this unique place.Your composition with the truck at the left side is excellent and the depth is amazing.A very good exposure with amazing sharpness and contrast.
I loved this place and I`m planing to go there again next year.
