I think the title fits to the situation in 1945: destruction, death, nothing left....

I decided to post this scene because it reminds me somehow that bitter dramatic ending:

a deserted rail leading to nowhere....and ruins at the horizon

PS: what the hell has Bolivia to do with Shoah?? maybe nothing...or maybe "it's a place to go" since I met many young Israeli tourists over there.....

Elle est magnifique ta photo dans le contexte apporté par toi-même par ce chant en Yiddish et la musique jouée par Perlman.
La fin du monde, la désolation, la tristesse, le chagrin, le désespoir, le malheur, l'abandon - tout y est.
Je suis émue et touchée et même bouleversée par ce tableau et par ce que tu as écrit au-dessous.

but i bet he's a survivor.

I like the black and white treatment, and the shallow depth of field is also instrumental in producing an old-fashioned effect, in concert with your notes. Well framed and cropped. An evocative image.

Accidenti che foto Silvio... splendida, veramente. 27 gennaio, una data-simbolo. un periodo che laggiù deve essere estivo, almeno mi pare, ma che comunque per la foschia in lontananza, il focus selettivo rimandano le mie sensazioni ad un'afa con effetto di miraggio, uno scontorno che mescola solitudine e caldo, interrogativi da orizzonti perduti. Fata Morgana di desolante impatto. il cane come espressione di fedeltà e di amico dell'uomo poi...o solo come un cane, altra chiave di lettura.
una foto che scuote per il suo significato, accresciuto anche dal link e dal testo che hai riportato in nota. complimenti sincerissimissimi.
