This is the main highway from La Paz to Santa Cruz. Thousands of trucks use it daily. Pedestrians who cross "death bridge" on foot do so at their peril. Here are two behemoths crossing it in a clearly marked "no passing" zone....typical and...homicidal!
My daughter crosses this bridge several times a day, which gives me nightmares. I've crossed it ...running and praying that I make it before two 18-wheelers barrel down. The "sidewalk" over the bridge is 25 cm wide, and 50 m below runs a river which, in the dry season, turns into an ankle-deep trickle. Suicidal to jump off! Pura Vida! |
