Cristo de la Concordia Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Cristo de la Concordia statue, located in the San Pedro Hill, has a height of 33m (108 ft.) because Christ died when he was 33 years old, and can be easily spotted from any place in Cochabamba city. The statue is located 265 mts over the city level. There is a cable car to the top, or if you're feeling energetic, you can climb the 2,000 stairs.

The Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue in Rio de Janeiro is the model for Cristo de la Concordia, but the locals like to think that this one is more loving -- the face has more human features and unlike its counterpart in Rio, its hands seem to be in a welcoming embrace.

P.S. I wasn’t sure about how to obtain the best point of view for this compo. I tried a low, frontal and lateral angle. I liked them all, but I am not sure which one is the best. Finally I decided to got for the frontal option, in order to highlight the open arms of the statue. The day I took the picture the sky was incredible blue and I had so much daylight luminosity . I hope you like it.

Olá Gabriel,
Em breve comentarei a sua anterior que também é uma excelente composição. Infelizmente o tempo não dá para gerir tudo a não ser o Cristo Rei da Concordia nos dê também tempo ou ofereça a sua divina providencia. Está excelente esta captura em formato vertical e perspectiva tão bem enquadrada. Cores optimas, contraste e composição com um excelente resultado do brando com este magnifico céu azul.

Muito bem caturado e realizado. Os meus parabéns e um abraço de Portugal.

Yes Gabriel, I do like this very much. I like your POV as it emphasises the statue so well against the blue sky. Very good composition, as I also like how you have left quite a bit of the dark blue sky at the top and not cropped it off closer to the Christ of Concordia statue.

Hi Gabriel, You have had an excellent PoV for this shot. The blue sky in the background provides an excellent contrast. The shades of the sunlight provide a good 3D view of the statue. A very well taken picture with sharpness and clarity. Well done.

Bonito angulo, la perspectiva está muy buena, muestra bien la grandeza desta escultura.El color del cielo y las nubes crean un bonito efecto.

El título dEl Cristo de la Concordia es muy adecuado con la imagen de brazos abiertos. La escultura está volteada para el mar? es solo curiosidad.

Impresionante Cristo con una altura bastante considerable, muy bien captada con excelente definicion. Los colores estan estupendos, haciendo contraste del blanco de la estatua con ese cielo azul profundo. Buen POV.

Bonita foto frontal!!! Solo le echo en falta un cielo más espectacular y hubiera sido ya brutal, pero ahí poco puedes hacer.

exactamente...33 metros y un pocito mas...very symetric with a lot of emphasis on the statue...quite like this pov...if you're still in Cocha you could visit a nice bar called Tirrana or even try some chicha in el Complejo Turistico de Chernobyl in Quillacollo near Cochabamba...cheers, artur

Bonito captura del cristo. Me recuarda mucho al Cristo de Brasil o al Cristo que corona el Templo del Tibidabo de barcelona.
En todo caso su definicion y luz hacen de esta una gran toma.

Buena composición y contraste. El color es bueno y crea una oscura capa sobre la cabeza del Cristo que resulta muy acertada.
Buena la idea, pero la definición, y puede que sea por la compresión, no acaba de funcionar.

Amigo querido.... veo que porfin te decidiste por tomar el viajecito que programamos pero que al final no lo pudimos realizar.

Tus fotos estan bellisimas, especialmente esta. El marco y la composicion SUBLIMES. Un contraste que me llega hasta erizar la piel por tanta belleza.

Por aca en Houston, todo bien. Con el ingles a FULL y miechi que habia sido duro e intenso !!!.... en serio, no crei que fuera tanto asi, no me quejo, solo un comentario no mas. ME gustan muchisimo.

No conocia este Cristo y , en serio, me parece tan o mas incluso espectacular que el de Rio,(hablo solo de la escultura, supongo que la vista sera dificil de superar)

Buen punto de vista , simetrico pero no aburrido,acertado,le aporta mas majestuosidad si cabe.
Bonito contraste y compo.

Gosto bastante desta forte imagem do Cristo Rei da Concordia em contraste com o azul escuro do céu. A composição parece-me perfeita numa opção bastante clássica. Tenho curiosidade sobre as outras fotos que não públicaste...Em ângulos mais aproximados por debaixo, deve dar umas interessantes distorções num 'look' mais artístico.

Quite awesome in itself, your point of view increases the impact!
The statue looks massive and overwhelming, also captured with good natural colours and fine details... The deep blue sky is a wonderful backdrop!
