The Palacio Prefectural.
Santa Cruz of the Mountain range, also called simply Santa Cruz, is the second bigger city of Bolivia (after La Paz) with a population of approximately 1.3 million inhabitants in her metropolitan area. It is the capital of the department of Santa Cruz, is at the moment the region with greater growth in Bolivia.
The city is located in the right margin from the Piraí river to 416 meters on the level of the sea.
The average of annual temperature is of 25ºC.
The city was founded by Spanish captain Ñuflo de Cháves the 26 of February of 1561, after an expedition integrated by 158 Spaniards and about 1500 native who marched from Asuncio'n Paraguay, which called Santa Cruz of the Mountain range in honor to its native city of Extremadura Spain.
From the city-planning point of view the city is delimited by a main network of streets drawn up under the traditional Spanish style with the seat located to the center of the helmet old and planned by surrounding avenues called ring of which other avenues are born that disperse in multiple called directions radial.
Right in the center, in front of metropolitan seat 24 of September one is host Prefectural the turistics and cultural palace of offices and centers.
