Photographer’s Note
In one of my visits to the wonderful country of Bolivia, I went to Santa Cruz of La Sierra. I went to visit the zoo garden, that unhappily it was degraded. But, continues to have fantastic animals, like these Amazon aquatic turtles that I call "ninjas".
I hope you like it.
The Amazon's endless quiet streams and lakes are a haven for freshwater turtles. Here these harmless reptiles reach a diversity equal to anywhere else on earth. Turtles feed on a wide variety of invertebrates such as insects, worms and snails, and occasionally other animals such as frogs or small mammals. They are highly secretive and wary. Many visitors never see one, although they might hear a splash as a startled turtle slips into the water.

a very beautiful post indeed. great DOF and colors.
a bad news from Kolkata: yesterday the famous tortoise Adwaita died yesterday after a long sickness. This over-225 years old resident of our city was quite an attraction for animal lovers. "Adwaita" in Sanskrit means "second to none".

Ricardo

Hi Manuel.
I read somewhere that turtles are one of the oldest animals in terms how long they live on earth, since the dinosaurs and longer. And somehow when you see them they look so small and defenceless and are probably the least agressive animals. They found a key in survival and that is being able to hide inside their cocoon which is so strong. That's why we should all appreciate them. Excelent photo, great angle of shooting.

Very funny photo Manuel; you did well to capture them in such a pose. For such "secet and wary" animals they have no inhibitions here.
Good use of DOF to isolate the subject from the background.

Boas cores, luz e nitidez. Parabéns e um bom fim de semana.

Hi Manuel,
Are these 'ninja turtles' or 'naughty turtles'? ;-)
This is a great pic. I love how you've captured it with a shallow depth of focus and, although it appears that it must have been a cloudy day, the contrasts are still really nice. Excellent work!
