Photographer’s Note

I am very glad I was able to see these waterlilies in this garden. This is a very nice garden with a pond in the surroundings of Santa Cruz. The genus “Victoria Amazonica” is the largest of all the waterlilies. Sometimes the leaves reach nearly 3 m in diatmeter, on stalks 7-8m in leght. Victoria is named after Queen Victoria of England.

V. amazonica is native to the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin, such as oxbow lakes and bayous. It is depicted in the Guyanese coat of arms. The flowers are white the first night they are open and become pink the second night. They are up to 40 cm in diameter, and are pollinated by beetles.

Gabriel, Hermosa fotografia, muy buenos colores, me gusta eso que se ve en el lago, esa plantas, muy buena fotografia, buena composicion, el cielo azul le da un toquecito especial y esas casas con techo de canas, uufff... seria cool estar ahi.

The water lillies are very interesting, as is your note. I've never seen such amazing lillies. What makes your composition special for me is the framing of the palms in the foreground with their repetition in the background both as trees and in palm-thatched roof. I actually like the photo better with only a small slice of the blue sky and clouds.

V good subject Gabriel. I like the colours and random geometry of the lilly pads on the pond. I'd love to see these. I wonder if they would support the weight of a person?

This seene looks almost fiary-tale ish. The waterlillies look like gigantic poca dots in the water. They are very interestin. I love the bright vivid colors and a lovely view. I would love to visit here.

Fantástica composição destes nenúfares. Já estou a imaginar aproximações com efeitos gráficos abstractos. Ver uma de 3m de diâmetro deve ser espectcular. Bom enquadramento com a vegetação lá atrás e aqueles telhados típicos de climas tropicais que eu adoro e um céu enublado expressivo para rematar. Muito boas cores e definição de imagem. Parabéns!

It is so clear, and the colors are so good and bright that it almost looks like it is painted. I have rarely seen such a clear photo, especially with the sun, that must be quite strong in those regions.

This is a fabulous shot. I have only ever seen these terrific waterlilies in the tropical houses at european botanical gardens like Kew in London. To see them in large numbers, in a lake like this must be breathtaking. The whole composition works brilliantly well, with the lush tropical vegetation and reed roofed buildings in the background and the huge leaves, bright green above and deep red underneath, dotting the water.

Very nice pond, the size of these waterlilies is amazing and their flashy green helps them stand well out against the water, the background houses add a pleasant "lost tropical Eden" atmosphere but you might want to crop away some sky as the clouds are a bit overexposed and grab too much attention I think. Not too bad, the photo is great !
