I have still three days to post photos before I will start to use my camera and fill the SD cards again:).
I am inspired this time by wonderful oldies that we can admire thanks to Gert (and a bit by Craig who was in South America not a long time ago).
It is old scanned shot from the time that TE hasn't existed yet, And of course no digital camera, prehistory:).
I could start thinking about far travels only in nineties. Earlier it was for me quite impossible to go anywhere West from communist country. On the top of my dream travels was Machu Picchu, Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku)and Chichen Itza. So, my first big journey was to Peru, and second one to Mexico.
In the books I read in my youth it was supposed that the Sun Gate in Tiwanaku was very very old.
" In 1945, Arthur Posnansky estimated that Tiwanaku dated to 15,000 BC using archaeoastronomical techniques. Later, as a result of the reevaluation of the techniques that Posnansky used to estimate the age of Tiwanaku, expert archaeoastronomical archaeologists concluded that they were invalid as they were a "sorry example of misused archaeoastronomical evidence".
In fact, it was not so old, but the area around Tiwanaku may have been inhabited as early as 1500 BC as a small agriculturally based village. Most research, though, is based around the Tiwanaku IV and V periods between AD 300 and AD 1000, during which Tiwanaku grew significantly in power. During the time period between 300 BC and AD 300 Tiwanaku is thought to have been a moral and cosmological center to which many people made pilgrimages. The ideas of cosmological prestige are the precursors to Tiwanaku's powerful empire.
But it was very interesting anyway. And for me it was fullfilling thirty years dreams.
See the map.
MISTAKE! It is much too big for beta site. In www it looks not so bad. I will wait, maybe I will delete it later. Safer not to loose smileys.

Delighted to be your neighbour today...
The dresses of the lady in their native weave & patterns are certainly eye catching. The scan is done quite well. In fact I think the picture would have been better if posted a little small in size. But a delightful introspect into the daily life of a country, which I doubt I can see with my own eyes

Ciao e buona giornata
PS: Romano 46 perchè sono nato nell'anno 1946.

A well preserved old photo, well scanned, Malgo.
The remote place offered a wonderful rural landscape, yet those ladies in their traditional dresses added a colorful extra tones to the scene.
well done, and nicely presented.

An interesting and informative note to accompany this atmospheric composition. The blocks of stone on the right help direct the viewer toward the group of traditionally dressed ladies. I like the sky very much and the colours. Good scan work.

A very good scan, I hope you will continue to show us these oldies from days before TE! This is indeed a very interesting scene with both fine details and colours.

Witaj Malgo ;)
Można by godzinami oglądać Twoją galerie i zawsze jest to przyjemnie spędzony czas. Zmieniły się czasy, zmieniła się technika fotografowania, ale urok takich analogowych kadrów chyba nigdy się nie zmieni.
Bardzo dobra prezentacja

Thanks again for this reference to me and my photos. This is a highly interesting shot from another millennium and although some of its sharpness has inevitably been lost in scanning it is still good enough to be enjoyed in a larger size. I see no reason to delete it, and no smileys are wasted anyway since they don't cost us anyhing. What I don't really understand is how you managed to upload this, since it seems to be larger than actually permitted. Do you have a special deal with the technical deprtment? :-)

Bolivia! wow, thats where Tosca and I wanted to go but time just didn't allow for it so we'll have to wait.
I know everyone who travels to Bolivia likes to go to the salt flats, and thats where we want to go to - did you see them!
great to see the colors, the attire and the landscape with the oversized clouds. and it seems like a couple of the people are looking straight at you.
wicked shot! really like it.
you must be getting excited :)

No, no, no, you must not delete this one! I agree that it is too big for "beta" TE but I simply copied it into my computer and looked at it to fit the screen and it's a fabulous photograph! Like yourself, I love the "older" pictures which Gert uploads here - they might not be sometimes quite as sharp as modern digital images, but the stories which they tell are simply wonderful.
And this is a lovely picture too, especially when viewed with your comprehensive and interesting note. That sky is beautiful and the little group of colourfully clad women seen against the distant landscape is wonderful.
Very good quality too, considering that this was a scanned picture.

kolejne ciekawe zdjecie z tamtejszego ciakawego miejsca. Typowe ich stroje a przy tym dopisala Ci wspaniala pogoda a widac to po slicznych churach. Bardzo mi sie podoba.

Interesting view, emphasizes the Tiwanaku vastness with long foreground, middle colorful women, distant mountains and dramatic clouds.

A superb daily life scene from the high plains of the Andes. Good sharpness and excellent framing. I might have blurred the blue parts of the sky. The diagonal row of big cut stones add interest as well as lead in lines and perspective. Tfs!

Hello, my friend.
Once back from my vacation at the beach, I'm active again in these pages.
A mythical place, on which I read a novel of great interest.
The place is great and superb perspective, these women with their colorful costumes put a nice exotic touch, splendid sky is a great complement to this beautiful work.
Very nice range of colors.
Superb brightness and sharpness.
Very well done.
I wish you a good day.
