La Paz, the city, that touches the sky, is an apt description. Located high above sea level, La Paz sits in a bowl surrounded by the high altiplano. La Paz as it grows climbs the hills resulting in varying elevations from 3000 to 4100 m. Overlooking the city is towering triple-peaked Illimani, always snow covered and majestic.
La Paz is the legislative capital of Bolivia, the largest city. The legal capital, home of the Supreme Court, is in Sucre.

"La città che tocca il cielo", è un buon modo per descrivere La Paz. Situata in una conca circondata dall'altipiano, La Paz è cresciuta arrampicandosi sulle ripide pareti circostanti, ad un altitudine che varia dai 3000 ai 4100 metri sul lvello del mare. A svettare sulla città c'è l'imponente monte Illimani, con la sua triplice punta sempre coperta di neve.
La Paz è la capitale legislativa della Bolivia, nonché la città più popolosa. La capitale costituzionale, sede della corte suprema è invece Sucre.
