Photographer’s Note
Today my first shot of perhaps my favourite place in Sudamerica so far, La Paz. Apart from the reasonably nasty bout of altitude sickness I had on arrival, I loved the chaos, the colour, the people.
A lot of people I know didn't like La Paz, but for me, quite used to the chaotic cities of South East Asia, it was strangely comforting. It smells, feels, and tastes like real people, and real life.
Anyway, we stayed pretty close to this church, a really handy landmark - Iglesia San Francisco.
It was built in 1549 by - you guessed it - the Franciscans, but collapsed under snow in the 1600s and not rebuilt until the 1700s. There's a plaza in front, as usual, with the usual people milling about, and a lot of pigeons.
Anyway, have to go now - playing 'Bill Bingo' - you have to watch the UK cop show and have a shot everytime they say CCTV.
Chao, por ahora.
