Photographer’s Note
Taken in the early morning from a La Paz - Lima flight by TACA airlines (at the time, maybe even today. the entire cabin crew consists of supermodels, perhaps politically incorrect eye candy). Lake Titicaca, with the city of Copacabana at the isthmus, the island at the upper left is Isla del Sol. Unfortunately this whole area was blocked off by angry farmers when I visited, and both the roads to La Paz and to Peru were closed. The snowy mountain in the fg is probably in Peru. Neat image softened the image quality considerably, as it does especially in aereal photos. I will add another version to workshop.
Bye until June...........

I like the layers in this, with the mountains on the bottom, then the ocean, and lastly the clouds, which we are actually looking down on - so the entire scene is upside down from the normal. Good to know about the flight crew too! Well done!

Hey Tan!
Very very good aerial of the area...Your note and picture brought me back to my own experience, when I flew the other way around (Cusco-La Paz-Santa Cruz) due to heavy strikes that washed Bolivia in May 2005. The colors seemed to be a bit velvet, maybe due to the film type, but in any case, very nice add!
TFS!

Hello Tan,
Unhappily, I've never flown over the Andes, and La Paz, whose airport is known to be at the highest elevation of any capitol. I did fly from Montevideo back to the States along the Eastern Coast, and the most memorable event was a woman giving delivery to a baby a few seats behind me.
Last November, flying out of Istanbul, I had my Nikon D-70 with 70-210 mm lens ready on my lap, intent on shooting arial shots of the city. As it was, the Istanbul was completely under clouds. About two hours later, flying over Eastern Central Europe, I had a chance to mollify my frustration, I actually posted the photo from the plane. Take a look at Austrian Alps. It is quite astonishing how far technology has come from film photography.
Warm regards, and thanks for the ws, Trogir Cathedral's Tower.

Amicalement

Hi Tan,
The early morning sun brings a fine play with light and shadow. The clouds above and the pink haze form a pleasant extra. Have a good trip,
Regards, Gerrit

Hi Tan,
I like here the artistic balance between the snow on the mountaintops and the suggestion of snow of the clouds. Both tied together by beautiful brown and blue shapes,

Hi Tan
A superb aerial view of the lake & reasonable sharpness & colour considering it was shot through a perplex window. Tfs!

Hi Tan,
It's very rare seeing a so good shot from a commercial airplane, as they generally lack contrast and depth. I am very pleased to recognise here your talent for compo. I like the way the white mountains are balanced with the clouds on the distance and the way that the land stretches to the haze bringing our look with it.
See you in the Summer.
I wish you have a nice time where ever you are.
Regards, José.

Hey Tan. Well maybe I need to start flying Taca airlines! ;) The sharpness, clarity and focus are all challenges in a shot like this and you got them all perfect. The cloud layer is ideally located and adds a lot of interest. tfs Tan.

I remember my own flight over the Titicaca Lake. It wasn't early morning and the window was dirty as it usually is ... so no photo, but you got the ideal moment and the ideal window.
Have a good trip my friend and be safe back to Mono Lake!

I like very much his hazy view with the sea of clouds in the back. It creates a second flat layer over the lake and once you catch it you can really see in 3 diemensions. Well done.

Hi Tan,
A great view. Air so clean. Dryish land and the big lake. And clouds hanging above it. The best thing on this one is harmony of colours.

Hi Tan,
beautiful shot. Nice compo. Good colors and sharpness. I like film shots. It's like you need to do a great job, otherwise, you loose the shot. Thank you!

Hi Tan
This is a great shot of the lake, the quality is actually not that bad considering it was taken through the window of a plane, but i would like to see it without the use of neat image.
I actually like your WS post better.
Thanks for the view

Hi Tan,
The wonderful variety of photos continues to charm and amaze me. I think you must have a wonderful life to allow such extensive travel together with the skills to capture and share these moments. I think only an ariel photo could give any sense of these mountains, but I'm always in awe of anyone who can capture decent photos form a comnmercial airline.

I think you had a slightly dirtier window to shoot through than I had, Tan, but the quality is not too bad for a shot from a commercial airliner - and especially considering this is quite an old scan. But it's a spectacular view, so definitely worth posting, and I think your workshop post is even more impressive. I probably would have posted them the other way around. Cheers . . . David

Hi Tan - the scan quality isn't perfect but there's no arguing with that view, it's spectacular. Another reason to always get a window seat ;)
