Photographer’s Note
The 250 km² ice formation, of 30 km in length, is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field located in the Andes system shared with Chile. This icefield is the world's third largest reserve of fresh water.
The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of only three Patagonian glaciers that are not retreating.
The terminus of the Perito Moreno Glacier is 5 km wide, with an average height of 60 meters above the surface of the water, with a total ice depth of 170 meters. It advances at a speed of up to 2 m per day (around 700 m per year), although it loses mass at approximately the same rate, meaning that aside from small variations, its terminus has not advanced or receded in the past 90 years. At its deepest part, the glacier has a depth of approximately 700 m.

Hallo Matteo!
This is an impressive and beautiful scenery. You have had the luck of good weather here and therefore your picture shows more than many others of this place. Including the forest in the foreground was very skillful to emphasize the not to surpass contrast betwen the ice and the plants. Great! Thank you for showing!
Greetings from Germany - and have a nice sunday!

Hi Matteo. A very expansive panarama showing this huge field of ice. A uni friend went to Patagonia for climbing years ago and enjoyed this area a lot. Now i see why. Very good series. TFS. Murray.

Wow, must be so impressive. I wish we could see more, but the mystery of the scene (produced by the close view) makes extra interest. Well seen.

I like this view of the perito moreno glacier. I have seen several photos of this beautiful place, but I think this is the first one with the perspective head on.
You can just see how far the ice actually goes, it just goes on forever. And the mountains in the background. Just amazing!
