Photographer’s Note

For his surface of 1.560 km2, the Argentine Lake is the biggest of the Republic Argentina, and the third one in South America. To 185 meters on the level of the sea, his length is 125 kilometres and his maximum width ranges between 14 and 20 kilometres.
It has a principal body and some ramifications or arms: Arm Upsala, Arm North, Rich Arm and Arm South. The arms Rich and South they join with the principal mirror of the lake across the Channel of the Floes - that passes in front to the Perito Moreno glacier - draining off there his waters.
His depth changes between 35 and 1000 meters. On the south littoral, and in the center, in the front of the Peninsula Avellaneda it is 300 meters.
The Argentine Lake gives origin to the river Santa Cruz that drains off into the Atlantic Ocean. The special color of his waters owes to a thin product of the union of the glaciers, called milk glaciaria.
