La Boca has two bridges, a few meters from each other, with the same name, Nicolas Avellaneda, being more interesting the old Transporter bridge
About The Bridge
The peculiarity of the Boca, Nicolás Avellaneda Bridge, is being the only one in the world that exists but does not work...
The bridge was a "hanging bridge “as it is also described, It is a ferry, a sort of boat or car hanging that transports people, goods and even vehicles supported by a large iron structure, through a system of wires and pulleys, holds and moves, with the help of a motor
What reminds of the old cabin is well seen above the trees
Between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were built about 20 transporter Bridges in the world. Of those, only eight are active, among which stand out the Chamonix, in France, the Mount Ulia, in San Sebastian and the famous Spanish Aerocar in operation since 1916 in Niagara Falls, Canada, that owes its funny name to his constructor, a Spanish company
The National State authorized Southern Railway Company to build a new Terminal Station on the grounds of "Yellow House" in the neighborhood of La Boca. In return, asked the company to build a bridge over the Riachuelo, which would be part of the Port of Buenos Aires.
The company began the construction of a Transporter bridge in September 1908, which function was to transport vehicles and people from Buenos Aires to Maciel Island. it was opened on May 4, 1914 with the name of Nicolas Avellaneda Bridge.
It ended operating in 1960 due to lack of public he received, since the construction of the new bridge Nicolás Avellaneda which was built in the 1940s, being baptized with the same name as the first one, probably
because it was replacing its functions.
Note: Mariusz said there is also one working bridge at Middlesbrough , where he lives

Amazing how big iron structure can be shown so well on a photo, and yet you managed a fine POV over.
The light was favorable, collected the mighty bridge in excelent clarity and contrast the blue skly.
A fine shot, and interesting note.
Buen fin de semana,

Thanks to your narratives. It's a neat, factual image and it records the appearance of the mammoth transporter bridges pretty well. I love the composition and low pov with the smooth receding structures make an interesting image, one that draws the eye in. Exposure is great too and the darker blue sky boosts and holds the image together. Excellent historic record shot of this unique piece of industrial and urban history now sadly abandoned as times passes. Well done shot and TFS

Superb sharpness with excellent graphism of the dark gantry crane like bridge structure against the lighter sky. Good density and a fine upward pov. The red hued bridge at left balances the composition as well as providing nice warm cold colour contrasts against the blue sky. Tfs!

the town I live in, Middlesbrough is famous in the UK for its Transporter Bridge, which has exactly this type of construction which you describe. The bridge here still works but it is so slow that it is rather an attraction than a real mean of transport.
I have I think just one photo of this bridge in my collection on TE -I have to capture more...
Very interesting to see that there are more of them,
Very well done,

an excellent composition to include the two bridges in one frame and show them from a close and upward point of view too. I like very much the perspectives and the tight framing that enhance the suggestiveness of the huge structures. The homogeneous and agreeable backdrop allows for a comfortable observation of the stunningly intricate patterns of the black bridge especially. Definition is superb. A photo that has to be viewed in the large version for its details to be fully appreaciated. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Entiendo que esto es la vista icónico de La Boca, los dos puentes.
Me gusta su composición de color, el rojo y el negro, con cielo azul.
Tenga un muy buen fin de semana, prima mía!
